Contracts awarded to 10 projects in the total amount of 2.93 million HRK

The Contract award ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Science and Education, where ten Grant Agreements were signed and projects have been awarded the „Unity through Knowledge“ Fund grant in the total amount of 2.93 million HRK.

The funds were awarded to the projects from the field of environmental management, biodiversity conservation, communication networks development and other scientific research areas, which were selected among 43 project proposals submitted to the call for proposals for My first Colaboration grant within the Cooperability program until March 8 this year.
Apart from the Fund's financial support, before the start of the implementation projects have secured additional 766,000.00 HRK, out of which more than half or nearly 400,000.00 HRK was provided by the foreign institutions. In addition to significant financial contributions, it is important to point out that beside the project leaders from Croatia and project co-leaders from abroad 32 other Croatian and international experts from Croatia and abroad will participate in these projects, which indicates a significant transfer of knowledge and thus the creating and strengthening of scientific groups in Croatia.

Selected projects will take place at Croatian institutions: four projects at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, one project at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, one project at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, one at the Zagreb Clinical Hospital Center, one at the Institute for Oceanography and Fisheries in Split and one at the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split.

The projects will be conducted through collaboration with prominent Croatian scientists from the institutions in USA (Yale University School of Medicine ; University of St. Thomas),  Sweden (the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH)), Germany (GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research; University of Stuttgart), Austria (University of Innsbruck), Switzerland (University Hospital Basel), Spain (Catalan Institute for Water Research), France (Université de Bourgogne, Institut de Mathématiques de Bourgogne, Université Claude Bernard Lyon1) with whom our institutions will establish a lasting collaboration and the projects will be directed to attracting the additional investments both from international sources (eg Horizon 2020) and from the private sector.
