Nevena Cvetešić, PhD student within the UKF project "The origin of the amino acid specificity and editing class I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases and cellular requirements for proofreading", the winner of the "Za žene u znanosti“ (for women in science) award
At the scholarships award ceremony held on in the „Preporodna“ Hall of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb, Nevena Cvetešić, mag. biol.mol., from the Department of Biochemistry, was acclaimed as one of four of this year's award winners of the National scholarship program "Za žene u znanosti“. Nevena Cvetešić is awarded for the results presented in her PhD thesis ˇProofreading activities of leucyl-tRNA synthetase prevent noncanonical mistranslation of Escherichia coli proteomeˇ which was prepared under the supervision of prof. Ita Gruić-Sovulj within UKF project "The origin of the amino acid specificity and editing class I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases and cellular requirements for proofreading". There were 58 applications submitted to the program which has been traditionally carried out for nine years in collaboration with Croatian Commission for UNESCO at the Ministry of Culture and L'Oreal's Adria with the aim of rewarding excellent young female scientists in the final stage of a PhD research.
